Technology BITES!
Well its 5pm on our first sunday here in Tanana. I am currently sitting at Dale and Cynthia's computer because out of no where our laptop quit allowing us to access the internet (NOTE TO UNCLE TOM: we just woke up and turned the computer on the night after our last blog entry and it has not allowed us to connect to the internet, but at the same time it says we are connected wirelessly with an excelent connection).
ANYWAY enough with all the frusterations of city life, we are in the middle of no where right? so today we woke up at 10am (its our day off)... its funny because our room doesnt have windows (its pitch black all the time with the lights off) and i remember waking up at 7:30 and telling myself i had another 30 min to sleep, at 10 i look at my watch thinking its 8:30 at the latest... Boy was i wrong. Well we got up and got showered, then sat on the bed debating on whether or not we wanted to figure out church today or rest (honestly we didnt know if by that time we had missed service anyway). only to hear the church bell ringing. We jumped up and went to church to see all of the other 4 attendants today (a little different than ALC). we got to talk to mary s. about our direction with the children after the service. She was really excited, she and her husband paul have been praying for people to come and help with the children for years.
we then came home and turned our pig sty into a work of art (you would be proud john). After using some alone time to our advantage ;) which ended up being a TOTAL god thing because with the hustle and craze of trying to understand this job we have not been allowing much "alone" time. Building our relationship seems to have taken a dangerous back burner to the store and we have both been doing our own part to bring it back to the front burner.
After we "cleaned our room" we went for a nice ride on the quads up to a creek everyone gets water from... The rusty pipe it flows from at the side of the road might turn many away but we are "ruffin" it and went for it filling all our water bottles up.
Today has been a very relaxing day, we have realized that it is AMAZING to do nothing when you have something to do the rest of the time.... What i mean by that is we have a job to keep us busy during the week and when we hit the weekend its nice to just relax like we got to do for the 3 weeks after we got married.
for kimberlys sake i will make it known that I, Andrew Long wrote this blog :)
You can pray for me and kimberly for a couple things: direction with the children and an age group to work with, our relationship which would include communication, patience and that other stuff, i have noticed i am grumpy all the time and it seems alot of the time i never want to talk... why? im not sure but i know its hurting me and kimberly, these last couple days we have been able to talk and go for walks but until then we were very distant. So just pray for us. We know this can be a LONG winter if we dont work on "us".
(we are still working in pictures... im trying to figure out how to get them off the camera... it seems the laptop doesnt see it as just like another hard drive like the other computers ive used and i cannot access the contents at all)

Hey Kids,
If we want to e-mail you what is your e-mail address? On a different tack...I would be interested in more 'scoop' on the church up there. Maybe they have needs that ALC can help with. The church building is next door to the store isn't it?
kimberly put our email addresses on another blog... but ill give them to you here too.
im: stang_COBRA_R@juno.com
and kimberly is: unknown733@aol.com
emails would be great because as it stands i dont personally have hardly anyones email.
the church is struggling... with the cost of desiel up so high they can really only afford to run the church on sunday (to heat it) so right now we are limited to sunday to use the church (the only day they would have the heat on)... thats not terrible and we can work with that but even that is pushing their budget.
right now there is ALOT of out of town construction going on running sewer and water lines to all the locals and because of the construction locals have first dibs on the jobs (instead of shipping a bunch of guys already in the union) because of the abundance of jobs EVERYONE is working like 7/10s or something like that (i originally heard 7/12s) and with everyone working there is nobody to go to church so... by december all the construction is supposed to quit for the winter and we will see what attendance is like (i love you dad!!!)
Thanks for letting us in on your adventure both the good and the bad. Joel and I are praying for you two. Being newly weds also we are still figuring out how to balance our time so that we don't feel far from one another or far from the Lord. I find that the second often effects the first. Being married is so awesome though - I'm so glad you both have this next 9 months together. The trials, victories, and hard work will grow you together. Lots of love. PS - Kim I want to hear of any moose you see or eat =)
Also we had quads in Africa and I miss the long rides - sometimes a quad ride was the perfect thing to get away and rest just taking in God's creation.
hey jenni and joel! its good to hear from you. yeah for newlyweds! andy and i are doing very well now. its been a struggle adjusting because we share the house with soooo many people right now we dont have any "us" time but its really been getting better and being on the exact same schedule helps. our fav time is walks or quad rides they really are great together. no moose spotting yet....usually have to get out of the village to see em. we have ate some moose tho - we missed the big moose curry night though, which i heard was amazing. i think tonight is a moose roast and it smells delicious! thanks everyone for praying!

Mom has taken like three loads of stuff to the goodwill-we gave away yer litle desk-hope thats ok-we got yer stuff all packed away and the house is looking kinda empty-no i havent acheived the total operating room sterile look in yer room yet but.....the week aint over! i touched up the paint on the walls to fix all the pin holes...i thought mom set the record for makin a wall look like it was the subject of an all out assault by the "fully automatic ak 47 pin gun" but you had quite a few-(i guess i gotta accept some responsibility since i was the one to teach you to hang all the airplanes up)---i really miss you guys - im not joking here--maybe when you get home we will hang up some airplanes for old times sake----been back at work 2 days and am already counting down the days till next vacation--well enough jibber jabber im gettin kinda choked up so better go-be sure and e-mail -keep praying for all and all will be praying for you, all my love, dad.
