and god said "let there be sleep"
Hey all its Andrew again. Kimberly would write more of these but she has been the one stepping up to the plate and making dinner for the two of us. Not to make myself sound like a lazy slob, its just something she has been REALLY excited about and so while i am blogging she is taking care of us getting food ready for out stomachs.
Currently though she is working. She is so amazing, I have not been sleeping well since the potlatch on the 30th. We came home from that at like 11pm and didnt get to bed till like 12am. We climbed into bed and kimberly was out like a lightbulb, where as i was tossing and turning ALL night long. I figured it was a one time thing, so i got up and made the most of my day... but i was wrong... every night since thing i havent slept more than a wink every night. I have melatonin (natural sleep aid) and it doesnt do anything for me. Its hard, I hope we can figure something out. I think it may just be stress of being alone.... its really amazing, cynthia and dale told us all along how nice it was that one of us could be in the store and the other could be doing something else (such as watching tv or riding snowmachines), yet while they were here that was not something we felt we could comefortably do. which lead to LLLLLLLOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGG days at work, when there are 2 people doing pittly stuff looking busy 8 hrs a day. So this morning after another terrible night *not* sleeping kimberly allowed me to sleep in while she ran the store for a couple hours. It allowed me to get a nap till yet again my body decided it didnt want to sleep... so i am up.... here... wiriting this blog before i shower and go and relieve my beautiful bride form her post.
I ordered a part for there newest snow machine. they have two older ones, one is just flat out too small for me. there is just no room for my legs below the handle bars, plus the seat is WAY too soft making it hard to hold on with my cheaks. the other is fun, but still a little small. This is the only one i have driven. this one requires mixed gas though, the other 2 have oil resivors that mix the gas automatically... and i am not sure where a gas can to mix the gas up is. The newest one got a hole in the coolant resivor by some unknown cause last year while one of the girls was riding it. this is a machine that is a 2 seater... and there is TONS or room for my legs... so i really wanted to get it up and going. So hopefully it will get here in the next week of 2 so i can get it on before im working in a garage thats 15 below during the day.
thats whats going on currently. we got our FIRST night alone in about a month last night. we signed up with netflix on monday and fortunatly got our movies yesterday morning, so we got to have some pizzas for dinner and got to snuggle up on the couch to watch "the hurricane" with denzel washington.
I must leave now and prepair myself for the day, I hope all of you have a great day...
I have spent about 2 hrs working on getting pictures up... i JUST figured out how to do it WAY quicker than i was the last 2 hrs but i have run out of time, i must go relieve kimberly of her post. so here is one picture. it sucks you cannot see inside more but it is what the view looks like from in the kitchen... *edit* ok ok i havent figured out how to post a picture on here yet... i have one attempt at about 2 minutes then i had to run... and again i dont have time to fool around with it, BUT if you click on the title (and god said "let there be sleep") it will take you to my photobucket account where i currently have about 35 pictures uploaded (man i takes a long time to upload these).

Can't you even make grilled cheese sandwiches Andy? You did the dishes part of the meal...right?
So are you figuring out the wazzit' 2 cycle thing yet? Also, can the puntured coolant reservoir be repaired with some kind of JB Weld patch?..or a piece of tin cut and 'welded' over the hole?
You should be getting my package any day now. I'll be doin' an e-mail soon
hey steve!!! its good to hear from you. i hope everything is going good with you guys. andy is a great man, and he helps me out a lot....its amazing what a little shoulder rub can do at the end of a long day :) everything here is cool. i couldnt tell ya about the 2 cycle thing because, well....i just leave all the mechanical stuff up to andy! i'll tell him that you were wondering so he can reply, sound good? tell everyone hi for us - we miss you all! hey, any luck on the church tapes yet? lotsa love, kimberly
Hey pops... the jb weld idea was litterlally the first comment out of my mouth when he showed me it... its their newest nicest machine (its like an 00 or 01) and i think he is just babying it. he said "naw because its pressurized and all". it being his 5k dollar machine im not going to second guess him. i have been told by david edwards up the street (at home) that years ago he and his father jbwelded a cracked block and it lasted another like 15 years, and they even sold the truck still running then. i know jb weld would work but its not mine to try it on. its no biggie ill just replace the resivor and maybe find something to shield it so it wont happen again.
You all get more snow up there yet? Not much down here.
Sorry to read about your insomnia, Andrew, will pray for you.
I enjoy reading about how you two are coping in a small village! Thanks for keeping us updated.
You know connie we havent gotten much more snow... we have probalby 6 maybe 8 inches of snow, that fell about 4-5 days ago and none since then.
i have slept deciently the last 2 nights... my dad told me to get a fan for some white noise. i didnt think it would help much because i was staying awake most of the night, it wasnt something where i was falling asleep and a noise startled me and woke me up.
we tried a couple things last night, we moved our mattress to the living room, and we turned the ceiling fan on... they dont make much noise but it dround out alot of creaks and other noises. i slept pretty good... i still didnt sleep amazingly but i slept through the night for the most part. i think the living room will do the trick.
i really appreciate the comments, and the prayers!

Hi Kids, sure enjoy your blog letters and the pictures. I check the weather each day and figured the Yukon must be starting to freeze over. I can hardly wait to get back to Kokrine Hills next summer. Your pixs helps me see it in winter. How much longer before you have pretty much dark 24/7? Hope Andy is sleeping better. Try Tylenol PM. That's what the Dr. suggested I take and it really works. Can you get it up there? Take care of each other. Blessings, Karen Wich
Hey... fellow blogger(s). I have enjoyed looking/reading your site. The pictures are great. What an Adventure!
Lynda and I attempted a similar adventure our first year of marriage. We tried to get on with the forest service in Idaho as a summer remote fire spotter living in an isolated tower deep in the woods. Didn't get the job, so we never had the experience. You're going to have stories to tell the rest of your lives. I hope ever year together it just gets better and better.

Hey karen... its andy...
I havent tryed tylenol pm, i do have melatonin. I believe its more because of the uncomefortable sleeping conditions that i was not getting much sleep. Also sleep apnea runs in my family and i would suspect i am probably dealing with that. I never get into a deep sleep, all night long i toss and turn, just last night kimberly said i sat up and mumbled something then grabbed all the covers off of her, pulling them to my side of the bed, then i layed back down and was out, leaving her with one thin blanket to sleep with... those storys are always happening leading me to believe i rarely hit deep sleep.
beyond that the river is starting to freeze... its tought because some days the big chunks of ice are frozen together creating a large sheet of ice, and we get to thinking its going to be happening soon... then the next day the chunks are way smaller and not iced together... BUT we went on a snowmachine trip sunday to where the Yukon and Tanana rivers meet (about a 2-3 mile drive) and alot of it was already frozen over solid... ill work on getting those pictures up.
we really are excited for this adventure... God just keeps on showing himself in everything... in how we interact with the locals... today a man came through... one of the guys that started the kokrine hills bible camp (i want to say his name but will refrain because i didnt ask him), im sure those of you that have been there will know who im talking about. He is an older gentleman, he was just passing through on his way to galena (sp?) and came in to say hi. He ended up comming up and grabbing a cup of coffee and talking with me for about 20 minutes (he had to return the quad he borrowed). then he left... it was really amazing to meet this wonderful man that kimberly always talked so highly about! and i know why she did!
